Please wait...A passion for for post 19th century music - jazz, improvisation and beautiful melodies brought the duo of Anita Hustas (bass) and Andrea Keller (piano) together in 1997 when they made a successful debut at the Melbourne Women's Jazz Festival. The classically trained musicians use fragments of notated music as inspiration for improvisation - the excitement of departing from and returning to notated sections of music keeps a high level of interaction between the duo and the audience.
Intimately recorded, the CD also includes trio performances that feature drummer Danny Fischer. The duo received wider acclaim when they opened the Melbourne concert of Mulgrew Miller and Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, as part of the visiting internationals' Australian tour in 1999.
"The music casts a spell from Keller's first demure piano notes on her partner's title track. The amazing thing is the way that the spell is sustained...from tranquil beauty to an infectious lightness of spirit and an emotional intensity that somehow never weighs the music down. Those who have enjoyed the duets between Ketil Bjornstad and David Darling will find much to savour here." John Shand, The Sydney Morning Herald.
