Album Description

The Wikimen have played forever and a day since 1908. The affable and convivial band's debut release Pop Hula Swing Blues Jazz was recorded on one hot night in February and sees the band traverse extraordinary vast styles of music including marvellous swing jazz, Hawaiian blues pop and exotica musics for your listening and dancing pleasures.

The band which is compromised of Nara Demasson, Dan Witton, Renato Vacirca, Justin Marshall and siblings Ros & Declan Jones perform popular music from 10's, 20's, 30's and eras unenamoured to sanitary dentistry. Recorded with Daniel Desiere at his Music Workshop, Pop Hula Swing Blues Jazz will stimulate the senses with Ukulele, Double Bass, Vibraphone, Brass, Percussion and an all singing line up. The all live recorded album will encourage the movement of body parts in the spirit of grandparents and grandchildren alike in a new sonic adventure.

Previously observed stringing up the double bass, caressing drum sets, tickling ukuleles and polishing vibraphones at diverse engagements, multitudinous weddings and festivals small and large; The Wikimen are guaranteed to get you cavorting, wiggling and genially whooping on occasion.

The Wikimen have played at events such as Melbourne Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, Spicks and Specs, Mona (Hobart), the Cube (Wodonga) many shows at Wesley Anne, Open Studio, the Spotted Mallard, £1000 bend, at the opening of shopping complexes, Melbourne Fashion Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, Darebin Feast and Boroondarra council family fun days, the Village Festival, Melbourne Winter and Summer Night Markets, 45 Downstairs, Ceres Market, innumerable weddings, birthday parties, kindergarten and primary school fetes. In 2016 they also played at the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival and at the Phillip Island Jazz Festival. In November 2017 they will do a regional Victorian Tour as part of the Cafe Culture Series presented by Mary Souness of Just Shows to Go.
