"Digital Flicks", a 2CD set, is a collection of Australian contemporary jazz pieces that reflect life experiences through the influences of the giants of the jazz and popular music traditions.

Pianist Andy Vance and saxophonist Andy Sugg have compiled a beautiful collection of sketches which fully explore the depths of emotion possible by this sensitively fragile ensemble. The intense lyricism of Sugg's tenor complemented by Vance's haunting piano style has an empathy that is truly engaging. The solos reflect an understanding of the roots of jazz, and like the compositions, evoke a sense of the contemporary.

From Duke to Bird or from Rollins to the Beatles, "Digital Flicks" is a broad brush of deep intensity, quiet reflection and lyrical flirtations, portraying a digital world. The title track, a rap tour-de-force, bursts out of its digital skin...The second CD, titled "As Night Is Falling" is a series of 12 piano pieces by Vance.

The strong melodic flavour of the compositions is a perfect vehicle for his intense and playful improvisations. "Digital Flicks" is 2 hours of fine contemporary Australian jazz by Andy Vance and Andy Sugg.
